Nancy Dengler

Pilates & Yoga Instructor

I teach body awareness from the inside-out and bring the joys of reconnecting the body to the mind. Let your body feel good.

About

I started dancing at age 3 and focused on my pursuit of a career in ballet and classical training. Having spent my teenage years studying at pre-professional training programs, I hung up the pointe shoes and decided to pursue a college degree. College proved that I couldn't stay away from dancing and I completed a BFA degree in Dance from Temple University. Shortly after graduation, as I committed myself to living and breathing dance, I began studying Pilates in 1996 as a student of dance. As a student of Pilates, I quickly realized the positive impact it had on my dancing and how it furthered my movement vocabulary and understanding to a whole new level. I did my formal Pilates teacher training from 2001 -2002 while simultaneously working in the executive world of arts administration.

I started teaching Pilates regularly at local studios in 2007. In 2012, I opened a fully equipped studio where I see clients privately. I also teach ongoing group reformer classes and work with clients at local studios as well. Additionally, I am a student of Ashtang Yoga and maintain daily home practice. my time and work at the yoga mat flows into my work as a Pilates teacher.

I teach because feeling good feels good. I have spent many years challenging my body and body image on a path of self-discovery. It has been through the blend of all the physical activities that have shaped me and that I am forever grateful. I learn and remember movement quickly and efficiently. I have a great eye for movement and movement patterns thanks to my dance training and background. This includes a proclivity for high-performance physical activities. It has been through my relationship with my body that I found true bliss. The acceptance of imperfection, the acceptance of self. I teach because I want to help others find their bliss, I want everyone to feel good. this starts with learning to feel the body. It is a very healing process on the physical, mental, and spiritual level.
